Growing up in Belgium, reading was my favorite way to pass the time and escape the world... I studied English and Dutch literature at university, then went on to work in a library. I was a reader, and didn’t become a writer until I spent time in New England (I always thought an ice-cold dip in Walden Pond had something to do with that!)

‘De Zeventiende Zomer van Maurice Hamster’ (Clavis, 2009) is my first YA-novel.

Between 2008 and 2015, I lived in Southampton (UK). My second book, ‘Birdie’, is a crossover novel set in England, and it was published by Lannoo in 2012. In Southampton I worked at October Books, a small indie co-operative bookshop that is close to my heart. In 2014, Lannoo published my new Dutch translation of Lois Lowry’s classic dystopian teen novel, ‘The Giver’. It was a project I absolutely loved working on!

In 2015 I returned to New England and settled in Greenfield, Massachusetts with my husband Tom. My latest project, ‘Dancing in Deep Water’ is a YA novel, published in Dutch in May 2018. I work part-time at the Deerfield Academy campus store. We have a great selection of books!

Writing a book is a lot like training for a marathon: the long lonely slog to ecstatic peaks... Besides writing, my greatest passion in life is running! I am an RRCA-certified distance-running coach, and I write the occasional article for a Belgian running magazine. When I’m not writing, you can find me in the woods.
